After a recent visit to the Japanese House in Philadelphia, a customer asked us to updo a bland side table. Visiting her home, we went through many eclectic spaces of different themes. When we came to the room with the table, the soft pine green walls as well as the Asian artwork immediately became our inspiration for the piece.
Working with some turn of the century art prints from the museum, the pictures tell a story of Korean culture. Symbols in the paintings such as pine trees, the sun, a crane, water, mountains, clouds, deer, turtles, mushrooms, bamboo, peaches and rocks, are known for a harmonious long life. The picturesque images remind us of the tranquility of nature mixed with colorful artistic impressions.
